About Us

Our Story

At Matregenix, we have always been fascinated by the potential of nanofibers and their ability to revolutionize a wide range of industries. From filtration to biomedical applications, we knew that these tiny fibers had the power to make a big impact. In 2018, we began our journey in Boston as a small company with a big vision-to design, develop, and manufacture highly tunable nanofibrous materials that could be customized to meet the specific needs of various applications. Our R&D efforts have led us to create a range of materials that can be used in a wide range of fields. We then expanded our manufacturing capabilities by relocating our operation to Irvine, California.

But we didn't stop there. We realized that to truly unlock the potential of nanofibers, we needed to provide manufacturers with the tools and resources they needed to bring these innovations to life. That's why we began building state-of-the-art electrospinning machines and offering contract development and manufacturing services to help manufacturers turn their ideas into products.

Today, Matregenix has grown into a leading provider of nanofibrous materials and electrospinning equipment. We have a strong reputation for our ability to customize our materials to meet the unique needs of our clients, and our contract development and manufacturing services have helped many companies bring their nanofiber innovations to market. We are proud of what we have accomplished, but we know that there is still so much more to be done. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible with nanofibers, and we are committed to continuing to innovate and evolve as a company.

Join us on our journey to unlock the potential of nanofibers and make a big impact across various industries.

Sherif Soliman

Ph.D., MBA - Chief Executive Officer

Highly passionate, and quality-driven, Dr. Sherif Soliman is a leading Material Scientist and founder of Matregenix. For over 20 years, Sherif has built on his extensive experience in biomaterials and nanofibers research and has planned, designed, and executed numerous nanofibrous polymeric structures for medical applications. His historical achievements in the creation of tissue scaffolds, as well as his expertise in medical device manufacturing, have earned him a reputation as a trusted partner to thought leaders and industry experts throughout the globe. One of his most rewarding achievements took place when a tissue-engineered scaffold he designed and developed became the first synthetic whole organ in medical history to be implanted into a patient.

As a native of the Sinai desert of Egypt, Sherif felt called to make difference beyond his home country and has always admired medical innovations and the strong correlation between science and engineering.

Sherif holds a Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, though much of his research was conducted as a visiting research fellow at Harvard Medical School. Following that, Sherif completed postdoctoral fellowships, the first one at MIT, and the second was an eminent T32 fellowship from NIH at Princeton University. Sherif also graduated from the Executive MBA program at Questrom School of Business and earned a BS in Biomedical Engineering. He holds several patents and has authored many peer-reviewed research papers in top tier journals. Recently, Sherif volunteered to author a new ASTM guideline for the characterization of fiber-based scaffolds for tissue engineering medical products.

When he’s not in the office, Sherif enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, being outdoors, and playing soccer as much as he can.
