# Matregenix Announces the Successful Launch of a Novel Nanofiber Filter Media that Blocks & Deactivates Viruses

July 28, 2020 (AB Digital via COMTEX) — Irvine, California, USA – In the battle against COVID-19, Matregenix Inc., a California-based Medtech company has developed a proprietary highly breathable nanofiber filter membrane media that has a filtration efficiency of over 99%. This membrane is 100% antimicrobial with the ability to deactivate various strains of viruses – including human coronavirus.
According to Dr. Sherif Soliman, founder and CEO of Matregenix, “*This technology has been properly verified and tested by leading third-party testing labs and will be significant when applied to surgical masks and respirators.”*
*“Engineering the pores in the active filtration layer without compromising the surface area of the fibers that make up the membrane is a difficult but achievable task using electrospinning technology. Our process also allows for the incorporation of antiviral compounds into nanofibers in a single manufacturing step,”* stated Dr. Kevin Guo, COO of Matregenix.

The structure of nanofiber media makes them an exceptional material for blocking fine dust particles, aerosols, bacteria, or viruses. Nanofiber based filters provide better filtration performance compared with conventional melt-blown materials at a significantly lighter weight. Thanks to the sophisticated technologies employed by Matregenix, this novel membrane can be used for various applications such as hospital gowns, medical head and shoe covers, protective apparel, HVAC filters for home, office, and hospital use, HEPA filters for airplanes, cruise ships, etc.
